Indications of Potential Issues

Although it’s never pleasant to see a warning light, they are not all a sign of doom. These lights are helpful and intelligent indicators to protect your vehicle and keep it running smoothly for longer. They can also tell you whether a certain function is on or off. So, the next time you see something different, such as “RAB OFF” light up on your dash when heading on I-5 from Redding to Sacramento, below is what that and a few others you may be unfamiliar with could mean:

• RAB OFF: If your vehicle is equipped, this lets you know the reverse automatic braking system is turned off.
• S# Depending on whether your vehicle has SI-DRIVE mode, this light means the Sport Sharp mode is currently turned on.
• SRF OFF: If your vehicle comes with steering-responsive fog lights, this indicator means they are off.
• REV Indicator: Are you revving the engine in the streets of Yuba City or elsewhere? This symbol is simply a solid circle that flashes when the tachometer hits the red zone or illuminates when the engine speed reaches a pre-set level.
• R.DIFF TEMP: Don’t ignore this one! This indicator is a rear differential oil temperature warning light, which means you should pull over as soon as possible since the rear differential oil may be running too hot.
